From the customer’s GSTIN and the invoice date.
Pick the customer and Edernal takes their state from the GSTIN: CGST and SGST inside your state, IGST outside it. Each item carries its HSN or SAC and its GST rate.
Rates are dated, so an invoice dated before a rate change uses the old rate and one after it the new.
- One number series per document and financial year, like INV26-27/1
- Credit and debit notes against the invoice they correct
- Your own fields on the invoice, like a PO or vehicle number
- A PDF of every invoice, receipt and note
Receipts that settle the right invoices.
Oldest due first, unless you say otherwise.
Record a receipt and Edernal pairs it with the customer’s open invoices, oldest due first. A part payment leaves the rest open; an advance waits as credit to apply later.
TDS the customer deducted goes on the receipt, so the invoice still closes.
- Credits and refunds applied in one place
- The customer’s statement updates as you post
Monthly invoices, raised on their day.
Rent, retainers, fees.
Set up a recurring invoice once. Edernal raises and posts it on its date each month, at 6 in the morning, with the tax for that date. Skip a month when you need to.
Questions about invoices
Which GST goes on an invoice?
CGST and SGST when the place of supply is in your state, IGST when it isn’t. The rate comes from the item, at the rate in force on the invoice date.
Who can raise invoices?
The owner, accountants and operators. Operators raise and send invoices but can’t cancel them. Your CA reads every invoice and never posts.
Is there a limit on invoices?
No. Invoices, receipts and notes are unlimited on every plan.
Can I send an invoice on WhatsApp?
Yes, from Books Pro. The message carries the invoice number, the total and the due date.
